Ryland is a J.D. student at Penn Law studying law and policy at the intersection of technology and migration with an emphasis on the Middle East. After studying abroad at American University of Sharjah in UAE and completing a Fulbright Fellowship at Ahlia University in Bahrain, Ryland engaged with capacity-building for Syrian refugees as a civil society coordinator for displaced refugee women in Istanbul and as a youth education volunteer in Za'atari Refugee Camp. She most recently served as a relationship manager for a small software company in the humanitarian aid space to better engage with refugee-serving partners in North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. At Penn Law, her work focuses on removing barriers for refugee entrepreneurs to access US-based funding and development resources.
