K-12 Resources

PLEASE NOTE: FOLLOWING THE LOSS OF FEDERAL TITLE VI FUNDING IN 2022, THE MIDDLE EAST CENTER IS NO LONGER OFFERING OPPORTUNITIES FOR K-12 EDUCATORS. WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO RESUME THESE PROGRAMS IN 2026. TEXT BELOW IS MAINTAINED FOR INFORMATIONAL AND REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY.

The Middle East Center offers K-12 educators and the Philadelphia community access to a range of useful resources. Our outreach activities reflect the diverse nature of the Middle East, and cover a wide array of religions, languages, civilizations, countries, and contemporary issues in the region. We are available to cater to the needs and interests of educators, the media, religious congregations, and the general public.

Please see below for useful links, lesson plans and free materials for teachers, an outstanding audio-visual lending library of feature films and documentaries, websites of embassies and media, and much more on the Middle East and the Islamic world.

Join our listserv to receive the latest updates on programs for teachers. If you are interested in using our resources, scheduling a workshop or have a guest speaker come to your institution please contact our Assistant Director, Ibrahim Bakri, at bakrii@sas.upenn.edu
