Barbara Romaine

Arabic Instructor, Villanova University

Barbara Romaine has been teaching and translating Arabic for almost thirty years.  She has held two NEA fellowships in translation, one of which was for her work on Egyptian novelist Radwa Ashour’s Spectres.  In 2011, Spectres placed second in the annual Saif Ghobash Banipal international translation competition.  She has taught at Villanova University, Princeton, Swarthmore, and UPenn, among other institutions.
