Congratulations to Rawad Wehbe! Dr. Wehbe is the recipient of the 2025 Roger M. A. Allen Dissertation Prize for his dissertation, “STRUCTURES OF FEELING AT THE THRESHOLD OF ISLAM: THE MUKHAḌRAM IN ARABIC POETRY” in the Department of Middle East Languages and Cultures (MELC) under the direction of Prof. Huda Fakhreddine.  Supported by the Trehan Gift Fund for Islamic Studies, the award is named in honor of Roger M. A. Allen, Sascha Jane Patterson Harvie Professor of Social Thought and Comparative Ethics Emeritus, who served as professor of Arabic and comparative literature at Penn for over forty years.

 

Dr. Wehbe is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in Arabic in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah.
