We welcomed Yasser Elsheshtawy, who presented a talk that examined temporality and transience as an urban condition in the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Refusing to succumb to the label of transients, the citizens are seeking ways to establish a sense of connection to the cities they live in. It was a fascinating lecture enhanced by photos highlighting the disparities in the cities.
