Yasemin Akış

Visiting Professor of Religious Studies, Villanova University

Dr. Yasemin Akış received her Ph.D. in philosophy in 2014, at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Turkey. In the following year, her first book, "The Concept of Anxiety in Søren Kierkegaard," was published as a book. She has more than seven years of experience in teaching Philosophy and Theology. She recently created and gave the course name 'Wisdom of Sufism', 'Orientalism and Religion' at Villanova University, and 'Religious Traditions of The Middle East' at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests focus on existentialism, the relation of philosophy and religion, religious and mystical traditions of the Middle East. Her current research is on the Sufis of Anatolia.
