Presenter: Beth Baron, author of "Egypt as a Woman: Nationalism, Gender, and Politics" (University of California Press, 2004).
Beth Baron specializes in and teaches Middle Eastern history at the City University of New York. She has written on the early women’s movement, gender and nationalism, and honor and the state in Egypt. She is currently working on a project on poverty and social welfare and also has an interest in slavery and society.
